So, the very first
Isn't she gorgeous? Heather's been growing out her hair for a little while now - she used to keep it super short, like me. I remember when we first started talking, she, Tina and I all decided we were part of an exclusive club of short haired sexy women. *lol* We're silly - I happen to think she and Tina are considerably more sexy than me, but you know. I didn't ask her, but I think this photo of Heather was taken in Cancun - Heather makes an annual escape there every year and I LOVE it when she shows off pictures on Lambchop Mobile. I keep hoping I'll be able to be stuffed into a suitcase one day, but I'll have to make my way across the country to do that - Heather lives on the west coast and I live on the east coast. I'm going to let you read her interview questions in just a few, but the things that I know about Heather are this: She's amazing. She's kickass, straight up honest, kind, loving, and whip freaking smart. She's one of the best friends you could ever hope for! I love her loads and I think she's beyond fabulous. Okay, so enough gushing.
When I decided to do this, I asked everyone a set of ten questions, and I told them to feel free to elaborate on anything. Here are my questions, and her answers.
1. How long have you been blogging?
Believe it or not, TEN years. I can hardly fathom it myself.
2. What inspired you to start blogging? How did you come up with the name of your blog?
I read an article in USA Today about this crazy new phenomenon, called "blogging" and I knew it was the outlet I needed.
Back then I talked about my life, music, whatever came to my mind. It was mildly successful and I kept it up for five years until my webhost went crazy and well...I got mad and let things go for awhile. The name was meant to showcase mobile blogging but, um, yeah. That just didn't work out.
3. What is your favorite color? Is it your favorite polish color, as well?
Purple is it for me, yo. You better believe it's my favorite nail polish color too!
4. Is there a polish color you won't wear?
I really don't like pink and I REFUSE to wear horrid, frosty pink. It makes me angry.
5. Do a lot of people offline notice your polish/nail art? What kinds of comments do you get?
I get some reactions here and there. Most are from my employees who find it funny that I change my polish everyday.
A lot of the time I'm asked where I get my nails done and people are stunned I do them myself.
Oddly enough, it's guys that notice color and nail art more and are much more complimentary. Go figure.
6. What are some of your favorite blogs? (Doesn't necessarily have to be polish related!)
Aside from all my amazing nail polish obsessed ladies, I always read Metafilter, Dispatches From The Culture Wars and Blabbermouth.
7. What other hobbies and interests do you have outside of polish and blogging?
I read ALL the time and I'm obsessive about music, heavy metal in particular. But I enjoy video games, riding my bike, cooking, college football and baseball.
8. Tell us a bit more about yourself. Any tidbits you'd like to share!
I have a phobia about statues. Life size or giant, that is. I secretly believe that they can come to life and kill you.
I make terrible jokes about eating babies. I'm not sure why.
So...who's inviting me over to visit now?
9. What is the one beauty item you cannot live without - you won't go out of the house without using or wearing it?
I am always wearing eyeliner, I hate not having it on!
10. What is the craziest/most interesting thing you've ever done?
I did all kinds of dumb/crazy/silly stuff during my teen years in Southern California. Like passive/aggressively stalking bands and the DJs of the local metal station. Or sneak into clubs and Disneyland. (I used to be real good at sneaking into the Magic Kingdom, yo.) Sadly, my life was so much more interesting then.
I did meet Joey Harrington at Autzen Stadium while waiting for tickets once. He was much humbled after his NFL debacle.
Heather's amazing at creating looks with nail polish that I would never think of. I asked her what these were, because as eye catching as her photo is, I of course noticed her nails - and that's what she chose for one of her favorite polish photos, as well.
"...the mani is the result of my husband challenging me to produce a mani that looked like the ocean in Cancun. Its all sponged but I really can't recall all the polish I used. I know Orly la playa and hard candy frenzy played a part along with an art club striper. Otherwise...yeah...it was so long ago that it may as well have been years ago. ;)
OY, my memory! "
She's a self proclaimed Orly fangirl, you know. So I figured Orly had to be in that mani, somewhere!
Well, that's our first session of "With A Little Help From My Friends", and a HUGE thanks to Heather for being my first friend to be featured! I hope you guys had fun reading about her, because I had fun reading her replies to my questions. I even learned a few things I didn't know!
