Okay, small confession: I'm not a big fan of pink nail polish. I like participating in On Wednesdays We Wear Pink, because it forces me out of my comfort zone. I have more pink nail polish since I started participating (although, I'm not as active as I should be, right?) than I have had the entire time I've been blogging.
This pink, BB Couture Scorching Strawberry, is not something I'd ordinarily reach for - but I love it. I love how it looks on my skin tone! It's a mid toned, blue leaning pink. Also, it made its way into my heart because it's jelly. (That's a lot of ITs in one sentence!) BB Couture and jelly go hand in hand so well. This one has a subtle silver shimmer in it - not noticeable on the nails, but it adds a depth to the polish, I think. You can see it in the macro, though. This is super shiny! I have been pretty busy with a hectic work schedule, so I've worn this for three days, with no top coat, and this is what it looks like right now. Wearing like iron and still, super shiny. I've used three coats here.
Pretty shade, isn't it? It was released with the Eye Candy collection.
Now, let's do something I haven't done with this blog yet - you can win this polish! Yep, that's right. Kim of Overall Beauty has an extra bottle, so she's generously decided that we should have a giveaway here at Nightly Nails.
A few things, we're going to keep this very simple. This is indeed open to international followers, so if you're overseas, feel free to enter! A second point: if you are under 18, make sure that you have your parents' permission to enter this giveaway. I don't want some crazed mama wanting to stalk us down and find out why we're sending her daughter or son nail polish. Seriously.
Okay, on to the easy peasy entering process. The only rule that I have for this is that you be a follower of Nightly Nails.
That's it!
Leave me a comment on this post only - one comment - telling me how you follow me, and if you're a GFC follower, leave your GFC name in the comment. Also, please leave me your email address in the comment, so that if you are the winner, I can contact you and get your mailing address!
Simple, right? Get to entering, people!
Please note, sometimes Google Friend Connect hasn't been loading. If you can see the Followers title in my right hand sidebar, but no GFC widget, and you want to follow, just refresh the page. Thanks!
EDIT: Ends Thursday, November 3rd!
Huge thanks to Kim of Overall Beauty for being so awesome as to provide me this polish to review, and to sponsor this giveaway for my readers.

Focus On Black: BB Couture Vampy Varnish
Oh, does that name sound a little familiar? It should, because Vampy Varnish is the namesake polish from the Vampy Varnish collection by BB Couture - created with Kelly of Vampy Varnish in 2009! Pretty exciting, right? Well, I'm sure you've seen this elsewhere long before now. As a matter of fact, I'm just going to link you to Kelly's own swatches of her collection. As BB Couture has some great black-based polishes, I'm glad to be able to show you at least one of them for this Focus On.
This was SO hard for me to capture on camera! I had four different sessions with this set, and I finally got something usable. Every time I would go to photograph it, the camera would blur the glitter out badly, everything was out of focus.
As you can see though, I didn't give up - the fourth session was the lucky one and I was able to bring the glitter into focus a bit more. Note on the close up that it's not lumpy, it's just super shiny! Obviously, black jelly base - with two different shades of green glitter. It's a stunner! I used three coats for opacity on this one. It's a tiny bit gritty when dried, so I added a top coat for these swatches. It dried super fast, too - bonus! Also, I can tell you that BB Couture polish wears like iron on me. I've never had one chip yet, and I've been known to wear them for up to five days. That's some kind of record for me.
Do you have any of the Vampy Varnish collection yourself? Which are your favorites? I love all of them, and the names are utterly perfect too.

Focus On Blue: BB Couture For Men Blue Christmas
You know, I don't think it would be a proper focus on blue if I didn't feature at least one of the sublime blues that BB Couture offers. Since I've already shown you a couple blues that I have from them, I thought I'd pick one I haven't shown on this blog, Blue Christmas. This came out with the men's collection for Christmas 2010, and it's one of my favorites! It's a sublime cornflower blue jelly with that signature BB Couture glitter that sparkles iridescent green in brighter lights, and silver in lower lights. I used three coats here, only slight VNL.
It's funny, I'm sitting at my desk writing this post, and it looks like it's getting ready to storm. My bottle of Blue Christmas is just glowing in the weird storm light with little green sparkles! If you've got or have seen Diamond Dust, it's that same glowy glitter.
Yum! What are your favorite BB Couture blues? This one is a beauty!

BB Couture Eye Candy: GUYS!
Phew. I haven't done swatches for a review in - well, forever! This will be my first collection swatch post on Nightly Nails.
BB Couture recently came out with a collection of polishes called Eye Candy, and as with the Infamous Lovers collection, it comes in two sets - ladies and guys. Today I have for you the guys! You can snag these at Overall Beauty.
I'll show individual shades off, and then I'll tell you my overall thoughts.

I'll show individual shades off, and then I'll tell you my overall thoughts.
First up I've got Rustic Romance. This is the one Kim said she didn't like - but I knew I'd love it. The color description they've got is honey orange. I can see this, but I call it a dirty, grungy toned down orange. LOVE. Very unusual, and I don't have a single orange like this. This photo was in direct sunlight. I used two coats here and there is very subtle shimmer - you wouldn't notice it on the nail but when I was going through photos, my shade shots showed it. Unfortunately they weren't the correct color, so I chose the full sunlight.
Dirty Blond. Can I just say the name of this is perfect for this polish? Tan creme is the shade description, and I'd say that's dead on. This was the only one I wasn't sure I'd like, but I do - I love a good neutral shade and this is different from the ones I have. Slightly yellowy tan.
Heavenly Hunk. This is a light blue creme with BB Couture's famous fine silver and black glitter. I LOVE this. It's sort of like last Christmas' Blue Christmas, but much paler. Gorgeous. Two coats here.
Silver Fox. Shimmery silver gray, says the description - dead on. This is a silver grey creme with fine, lighter silver shimmer. I had to use three coats. Go slow with this and you won't see many brush strokes, although it has the potential. I love it!
This is my second favorite of this collection - Sexy Centerfold. Why, yes, you are sexy, sir! Muted light green creme with that silver and grey fine glitter. NOT mint at all. This was two coats. See, BB Couture has the most AMAZING greens ever and this is no exception.
BAM. Hellooooo, Playboy. You sexy beast. Oh em GEE is this freaking gorgeous or what? Hands down my favorite from the whole collection. This is a deep blue teal base with silvery blue and pinky purple fine glitter. Wow, that's a heck of a description. The glitter looks mainly silver on the nail, as you can see. Two coats here. My most color accurate photos were, again, in direct sunlight.
Overall, what an interesting collection! I love all of these. Even Dirty Blond, I think it's an interesting shade for a nude. These are all unusual shades, nothing in my collection compares to them. The formula is standard across the board, very smooth and well pigmented. I had to be a bit careful with Silver Fox, as I mentioned, because it could have been prone to brush strokes, so I used thinner coats and three instead of two. I've always loved the BB Couture formula.
These polishes are more pricey than a drugstore polish, but they do include BB Couture's formula of a base and top coat all in one bottle. I would, however, highly recommend doing a base coat under both Playboy and Sexy Centerfold, since they both left a bit of stain when I was swatching them.
Of all of them, if I could only pick out one for you, I'd say you have to get Playboy.
So what do you all think of these? Are you as in love with them as I am?
Disclosure: These were sent to me for review by the retailer in return for an honest review.
Spam for Dinner
I've got some unshared stuff that I have laying around in my image folders, from...before. So after a brief query on twitter to see if anyone would be interested, which resulted in a resounding yes, I started pulling out photos.
Now, I have NO clue how many coats any of these were. So I can't help you on this. These were from maybe last summer and fall?
BB Couture for Men, Adam.
BB Couture Hermosa Surfer Girl
LA Girl Rock Star Paparazzi
NYC Love Letters over...UD Brick House? I'm pretty sure it's over Brick House.
Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure over OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui. *swoon* And look how short and rounded my nails were!
BB Couture Punk Rock Pink.
Urban Decay Id. *deep sigh*
I think that's all for now, I probably have more buried in image folders.

Pink Wednesday: Zoya Kiki and BB Couture Diamond Dust
I haven't been feeling up to snuff lately. I'm amazed I've even got these photos ready to go for today, but I did! Anyway, today's pink is one of my all time favorite pinks, Zoya Kiki. It's eye-searingly bright and has a strong blue flash. To top all that off, (as if it weren't already awesome enough) it has a gorgeous silver shimmer running through it. If you used to read my other blog, you will have seen this before!
Well, I wear this on my toes all summer. And inevitably I top it with BB Couture's Diamond Dust, because I like the extra bling. Diamond Dust is a milky sheer - you'd probably never get it to be opaque on its own. It's jam packed with gold and green glitter that seem to have almost an otherworldly glow - it's SO cool and I love it as a topper! I've included a bottle shot of Diamond Dust so you can see what I mean. If you love to layer, you should consider this one a must have.
I used three coats of Kiki, it's a little less opaque than you would think.
You've seriously got to click to enlarge these to see the hotness. You can imagine how much fun this would be on your toes in the summer!
So...are you wearing pink for Wednesday?

Focus On Glitter: BB Couture Bonnie
So, not all glitter is large pieces. BB Couture is a master at green polishes - they have a wide range for those of us who are green fanatics! They make fantastic jellies and glitters as well, and they have a great formula. Bonnie is one of my favorite greens ever. It's the perfect emerald green jelly with darker green metallic glitter and gold glitter. The glitter in BB Couture polishes is fine, instead of larger like the other three polishes I've shown you.
Application on this was flawless - two quotes of squishy goodness and great opacity for a jelly! I've worn this polish before on a longer time schedule, and it lasted me five days before I had to change it or go mad. This is my own fault, I can't keep polishes on for long periods of time, I get bored easily.
Okay. My best photo in this set , the second photo, shows my hands as strangely....orange. I'm not sure why. But the polish in this photo is so perfectly color accurate that I had to show you anyway. The good, the bad and the ugly, right? The polish is beautiful. But this is just not my skintone! Haha.
That macro is so glossy! And as a side note, although this Focus On is about glitter, Bonnie's partner in Crime, Clyde, is an amazing jelly creme green - no glitter for those who are not fans.
Anyone else in love with BB Couture's greens? They make me swoon.

BB Couture Glampyre
Ahh, Kim from Overall Beauty sent me this gorgeous addition to the Saints of Ruin collection by BB Couture - Glampyre. It's described as a rich black gold. The base is indeed black, but it's so jam packed with gold shimmer that it looks like a rich brownish green on the nail. I LOVE shades like this - this could be a sister to one of my favorite polishes, Wagon Trail. I did get a good macro of this, and I've included a direct sunlight shot as well as my usual partial shade shots. This is extremely pigmented. I almost could have gotten away with one coat, but I did two to get any spots I missed. BB Couture always wears extremely well for me, the formula is excellent, and this is no exception. I'd been waiting for a good sunlight day here, as we've had a lot of rain, and I wore it for 4 days as a full mani with no chipping and very little tipwear.
Okay, see that macro? It's PACKED with gold shimmer. I think this is a great addition to the Saints of Ruin collection, it fits right in. And the name's cute, too. Do you have this yet?

BB Couture Dragon's Breath
I had to take about a million photos of this before ONE came out clear - that would be the second one below. I went ahead and posted the first one so you could get a full on idea of the color, if you hadn't seen Dragon's Breath posted before. Although I'd be surprised - Dragon's Breath is BB Couture's top selling polish! If you'd like, you can click to enlarge - the second one, again, is the most clear shot.
This is a very red based purple jelly absolutely jam packed with glitter - four colors! Blue, silver, pink and red to be exact. BB Couture has about the best formula for jelly and glitter, and they have the most amazing colors. They're right up there on my list, somewhere just below China Glaze in fangirling, because of the color range and the jellies. This is awesome.
I don't often feature purple - it used to be my favorite color, but I think I got burnt out. I actually got rid of the majority of my purples and haven't bothered repurchasing them.

I do love a good reddish purple, I swear.

Pink Wednesday: Diamond Cosmetics South Beach Pink
I have a love/hate relationship with pinks. Now, this is a nice, bright pink from Diamond Cosmetics. I need to snag - I think it's Hot Lips? - we'll just go ahead and call it Hot Lips, because it's a deeper hot pink, and JELLY. It's yum. But this is a pretty deep pink too. I think it may be a tad deeper than my photo shows. This is two coats.
And, it needed some bling. So I topped it with BB Couture Diamond Dust, which always does the trick. Perfect.

I love Diamond Cosmetics polishes. I wish I had kept my bottle of Chainmail Charm, you can't order it anymore. Sad face.

BB Couture Frosty Meadow
*shifty eyes* Soooo...evidence I'm a slacker, much? Yeah. It's been a bit of a crazed week, and although I have photos, I just hadn't gotten around to editing or posting.
And hi to my new followers! *waves*
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, an amazing green jelly from BB Couture - they do some amazing greens, and some amazing jellies, too - Frosty Meadow. This is AWESOME. It's filled with sparkly lighter green glitter. I LURVE YOU, Frosty Meadow.
I won't be drinking green beer tonight, but I will be driving - so you revelers stay safe, take a taxi. *wink* Have fun! I leave you with John Mellencamp's Wild Night, featuring Me'Shell Ndegeocello. Of course, this is the remake of Van Morrison's original, the amazing Irish crooner. I love that she's driving a yellow taxi.
