China Glaze Pelican Gray and Spoiled Shuffle The Deck

Hi everyone! I know, I've been away a lot this week and I didn't intend to have this much downtime on Nightly Nails, but my hubby got sick and has been in the hospital, so I didn't get anything prepped for posting.
I got a sweet little package in the mail from one of my longtime readers and dear friend Rebecca this week, she sent me one of the new Wet N Wild Spoiled glitters, Shuffle The Deck. This is such a pretty glitter combination - black, silver, and raspberry red in a clear base? Sounds like a layering combo to me! So I thought I could put this over a white - and then I thought about it some more, and I thought I might actually use a gray that I haven't posted yet. I absolutely adore gray polishes but I haven't posted too many here, so I'll try to show a few more. I don't know if I have enough for a full week for Focus On, but definitely I have a few!
I chose China Glaze's beautiful light gray, Pelican Gray, from last year's Anchors Away collection. This is a gorgeous gray with silvery shimmer, and because the base is a creme, it's more of a subtle effect, but you can definitely see it. This is well pigmented so you'll only need two coats.
With Shuffle The Deck, I only used one coat, but I had to use the pat on method of application, because swiping on does not distribute very well. It's not too hard to master, just something to be mindful of.

I think this combination is so super cute! Hopefully if you click to enlarge the photos, you can see the subtle shimmer in Pelican Gray. Rebecca, thank you so much honey!

The Halloween Polish Comparison!

Hey everyone!
I've been having one heck of a week. The hubby got sick after I did, so I had to cover him at work - and I've worked an insane amount of hours in the last week or so. No time for swatching, so I couldn't post much! And then, my computer, which is older, couldn't connect to the internet. We think it's the net card. Now I'm using hubby's computer and getting it set up for me to use, which is taking some time. I have all of my files to transfer, as well. I'm getting there, though. So I apologize for the lack of posting, other than my blogger feature and Wednesday's pink post.
I won't get through all of the Halloween polishes I had to show you, but I do have the promised massive comparison post.
So, I've got for you China Glaze Fortune Teller and Ick-A-Bod-Y, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pumpkin Spice, and thanks to a lovely reader, Wet N Wild Cougar Attack.
On the index finger is Fortune Teller, the middle is Ick-A-Bod-Y, ring is Cougar Attack, and pinkie is Pumpkin Spice. In the first photo, I've used only one layer of all of these except Pumpkin Spice - that's two layers. I wanted to be able to show off the base colors. FT is the deepest black, Ick-A-Bod-Y is a olive green jelly, Cougar Attack is a black jelly, and so is Pumpkin Spice. Of the four of these, Pumpkin Spice is the most sheer. The bases are different shades, as is the opacity and the density of glitter, but the glitter itself is identical in both Ick-A-Bod-Y and Pumpkin Spice. It's my opinion these two are the closest, although none of these is a dupe for any of the others. The glitter in Cougar Attack is more rose copper in shade, and the deep black base and hex glitter in FT stands it apart from the rest. Pumpkin Spice is probably best suited as a layering polish - and if you have this and aren't sure what to layer it over besides black, I've seen swatches of it over orange and brown and both look great.
The second photo is fully swatched and with top coat. All of these were two coats except Pumpkin Spice, which I've shown with four.

Phew. I hope you get a good idea of these now! My apologies for the owie on my pinkie. I had a snag and it's slowly healing up. Also, right before I snapped that first photo, I cracked my middle fingernail. You might be able to see it, even. I don't know WHAT I cracked it on, but my next post will be featuring super shorties. *sigh* Luckily my nails grow pretty quickly, but they were at such a good length.
Shout out to Robyn, whose birthday is today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY. Love you loads!
And that's it for this very wordy post. Your thoughts on these polishes?? Have a good evening!

Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin

I'm sure many of you have already seen this pretty, squishy orange jelly. Creepy Pumpkin is one of the "tombstone" polishes from Fantasy Makers this year. It's very sheer - I used three thick coats here. It's sooo pretty and sparkly though! Admittedly, I'm a sucker for orange, and I love juicy orange jellies. This one's shot through with small gold glitter, to add icing on the cake.

Aren't those bottles too freaking cute? I LOVE them. I wanted to show a side shot of the bottle so you could see the pretty polish, so there ya go.

Focus On Glitter: Wet N Wild Night Prowl

Tonight's glitter, Wet N Wild Night Prowl, is only 99 cents in the US! That's crazy cheap. I love Wet N Wild, they make awesome products with a really good price point. Night Prowl is another fine glitter, it has a black base that's just jelly enough to make the metallic violet purple easily visible. *swoon* I LOVELOVELOVE glitters in a black base. The first nail polish I ever fell in love with when I started blogging was China Glaze's Lubu Heels. After that, I got sucked into any glitter that had a black base, I cannot resist them. Hrm. That may be why this week's glitter-extravaganza features THREE polishes that have black bases.
Anyway, application on this is divine. I only needed two coats.

Definitely click to enlarge these. (I sound like a broken record this week.) That's not the best macro, but I think you'll be able to tell that the fine glitter is square shaped. That bottle shot! So cool. I love that even in lower light, you can still see the glitter in this! Naturally in bright sunlight, it really pops.
Tomorrow I'll have an early scheduled post showing how I remove glitter!

Wet N Wild Diving For Pearls

This was another polish from Mermaid's Cove I almost didn't get. Actually, I was only attracted to one of these polishes, and so far I've loved all of the ones I've tried out! I'm slowly getting the hang of the brushes, this application went a bit better, as you can see. This to me is a true turquoise shade, leaning more blue in some settings, and more green in others. It has a lovely metallic shimmer running through it. I only needed two coats for opacity. Another polish you should click to enlarge to see the shimmer!

I think I've got two more of these to show you. I'm slowly making my way through the massive amount of polish I've purchased recently! Haha. There were just too many pretty polishes released.

Wet N Wild Sunburst

Hey, Andrea! Here's a color that DOESN'T LOOK GOOD ON ME. Okay, so Sunburst is from the Bloom collection - something that took forever to show up in my stores! As a matter of fact, it showed up the same time as the Mermaid Cove in my CVS.
I picked up three of these pastels. The first I've got to show you is the peach, and it's so cute in the bottle. I think it looks awful on me. This is a creme, and it took three coats to even out. These little bottles have tiny handles, but it wasn't hard to adjust to.

Yeahhh. Not so much! I'm sure this would look cute on someone else, but I immediately took it off.

Wet N Wild Ocean Grotto

I'm SUPER far behind - commenting, blogging, swatching. My internet has been le slow for a week now! Really irritating me. I kind of hate wi-fi right now. I will get caught up, though!
Anyway, if you're new here - HI! Thanks so much for following.
This week/end I found a bunch of new stuff, including the new WNW collection, Mermaid's Cove. I think I picked out three or four of these? I picked up, and then put back down, Ocean Grotto. I wasn't sure I needed it - now I'm glad I snagged it, because it's really pretty!
It's a really yellow toned green shimmer - and the shimmer is pretty metallic. LOVE. I am still struggling a little with the brushes on these, so excuse any extraneous shimmer you see. I don't think it's the fault of the polish, but rather the brush I'm struggling to use, that I had to do a touch up coat to cover up bald patches. Maybe there's a learning curve, because I'm getting better.

Hello! Look at that macro. You can see how yellow/gold the green leans there. Have you guys spied these in any of your drugstores? I found mine in CVS, but not in Walgreen's yet.

Pink Wednesday: Wet N Wild How I Met Your Magenta and NYC Gramercy Glitz

That's a long title, huh? Haha. Okay, so Wet N Wild How I Met Your Magenta is from the new WNW fastrdry series. I'm just going to go ahead and say I HATE the brush. It's like a mop. Therefore I had a hell of a time controlling where the polish went, and how much got on the brush. This is a pretty pink - not my usual taste, but I was drawn in by the gold shimmer. It's not very prevalent on the nail. I don't think this is very magenta, either. It's more of a mid-toned bubblegum pink. Although this is not a jelly, I had VNL after three coats. Kind of weird.
To make this look a little cuter, I topped it off with NYC Gramercy Glitz, a milky pink sheer with metallic fine glitter.  The glitter is kind of glowy - almost holo, it gleams blue in some light. I love this. It kind of looks like sugar encrusted lollipops?? A very candy looking manicure. My ring finger, you can tell, bore the worst of the WNW polish, it's uneven because of the bad polish distribution.
I strangely love this, anyway. I think the pink may be a shade deeper IRL, for the record.

What are you wearing for Pink Wednesday?

Wet N Wild SPAM

I recently picked up a bunch of Wet N Wild polishes, because you know, they're cheap, and often they're awesome. They had some new ones, and some ones I had before, so rather than do a series of posts on them, I figured I would just show them all at once. You know, me being the wiz of efficiency, and all that. *cough* NOT.

First up is this squishy spring green with a secret shimmer - I want to say it's blue? VERY hard to tell and doesn't really translate to the nail. This is what I'd call a jelly creme. I really love this one, the shade is unusual. Umm, it's called Toss Me a LIFESAVERS.

This blue is similar in finish to "Lifesavers" in that it's a squishy jelly creme with a secret shimmer - this one is purple, it seems. Pretty sky blue - NERDS Need Love Too.

Easy Peasy LEMONHEAD Squeezy. By the way, the caps are what's printed on the bottle, if you don't have any of these and are wondering. This one gave me major trubs. This is three coats, and it never evened out for me. I'll give it a whirl again, as this one is somewhat warmer and deeper than my NYC Lemon Cream, and I love all yellows, so the shade is amazeballs.

Sunny Side Up is one I had before, and picked up again. I LOVELOVELOVE this dusty orange shade, it gave me no trouble. Again, a jelly creme finish.

Blazed seems to have been around for a while. It's an awesome, juicy coral. I'm repetitive, but this is a jelly creme.

So, as I mentioned - the formula on most of these was fantastic. But I guess everyone who tries yellows knows they can sometimes be problematic, right? I love all the colors though.
