Sinful Colors Nirvana

Okay, I've got a huge backlog of untrieds that I'm slowly working my way through. I bought Nirvana during one of the half off sales at Walgreen's, and hadn't actually tried it! It reminds me a lot of OPI You Don't Know Jacques, although I no longer have that to compare.
The one thing I remember for sure is that YDKJ is a straight up creme, and Nirvana is not - it's more of a jelly creme, closer to the jelly side than the creme. I needed three coats for opacity, but I absolutely loved applying it, jellies seem to be a bit easier to work with, less lumpy/bumpy/prone for mess than cremes, so I love a good jelly creme. This is my kind of neutral, a gorgeous mushroom shade!

I actually had it in mind to layer this with another Sinful Colors, Smoking Hot, but I somehow managed to put a huge chunk into my pinkie finger while I was waiting for it to dry. I'll try that out another time and show you, because Smoking Hot is pretty awesome!

Zoya Codie

Well, this is a pretty straightforward post. Zoya Codie is a dark brown creme with just a slight undertone of yellow - making it slightly warm, and therefore not completely blackened even in lower light situations. Makes sense, hopefully. Easy application, two coats shown here. I don't feature enough browns, but I do love them.

This is in a lower light situation - lately it's been overcast and rainy in North Carolina a lot, so you can tell this is not black. Sexy, I think! And look how glossy it is.

Focus On Duochrome: CQ Idyllic

CQ Idyllic is a drugstore gem I found one day while looking unsuccessfully for a discontinued Sally Hansen. These I've seen at Rite Aid - I don't know if they're found anywhere else. You can get this multichrome stunner for under $5! I want to say it was two or three dollars.
This is a shimmer, I used three layers here. It was thick enough on its own not to have to layer it over another color. It flashes brown, gold and wine red. It's stunning! Very fall feeling, as well.

I just love this so much. It was a joy to photograph, too by the way! So easy to capture all the pretty colors. I'm glad I snagged this when I saw it, I didn't know it was going to be quite this beautiful.

Focus On Glitter: Deborah Lippmann Superstar

It wouldn't be a glitter week without a Deborah Lippmann glitter, would it? I don't think so. If you've never tried one of her glitters and you're the least bit intrigued, do it. They're sublime.
Superstar is a brown jelly base with small copper hex glitter. It's...stunning. I don't see it featured often, but it's one of my favorites - and I think it makes a great polish for summer, which is when I start longing for metallics like copper and bronze  - especially in eyeshadows. I'm not sure why that is, but I definitely think of hot metals about as much as I think of bright colors in the summer.
Anyway, I used two coats in this application. I would be willing to bet if I had done a thicker coat, I could have gotten away with one - this is absolutely packed with glitter. You will notice a bit of sparsity on my index finger but it really wasn't noticeable until I took pictures. I'm just going to look at that like - hey, at least you can see the brown jelly base! Hah.
A TON of photos here. This really glows.

Wow, that just makes me want to go put this on all over again, even though I'm wearing a gorgeous lavender layering experiment. So yummy.
One more day of Focus On Glitter! I'll be posting a poll for the next Focus On tomorrow.

Disclosure: The product featured in this post was sent to me in return for an honest review by the PR company, when I had my previous website, Magic Maid.

Essie Mochacino

Essie Mochacino is one of the core colors I've seen displayed in drugstores now. I've got a small list of these that I want to pick up! This is a gorgeous soft brown with silver shimmer. I absolutely love this - the formula was immaculate, two coats. The shimmer makes it a very eye catching neutral!

This is a nice change from all the brights I've been wearing lately.

P2 Summer Rain and Golden Rush Crackling

I mentioned the other day that I got an awesome care package from Jeanette of The Swatchaholic. She had sent me a couple of the P2 crackle top coats, and I decided to use the gold, Golden Rush, over this gorgeous neutral from the P2 Sun Love collection, Summer Rain. Summer Rain is a light brown with gold shimmer throughout! Looking at the macro I snagged, it also seems to have some copper shimmer interspersed - I really didn't notice it on the nail, but it shows up in photos. What an awesome neutral, one of my favorites. The shimmer didn't get lost on my nail, and it looked fantastic with the Crackling top coat.

Ahh, you can totally see the gold and copper shimmer in that macro! Cool. I think because these were photographed in overcast conditions (we haven't had a lot of sun lately!) it doesn't show the true beauty of this combo - the gold and neutral together was really eye-catching.

Essie Little Brown Dress, China Glaze Crackle: Crushed Candy

Long post title, eh? I'd been wanting to try a brown underneath the turquoise and pink crackles, so I picked up Essie's Little Brown Dress. It's yummy and glossy on its own, and I quite like it under the turquoise - Crushed Candy - as well. I tried different angles as well as straight up and down, I did sideways and diagonal. Fun!
Little Brown Dress is such a yummy dark chocolate shade. I LOVE browns, I know that's a little unusual, but I do have a thing for them, and this is a pretty one. It's dark, but it's obviously brown even in low light. And the application was nice - my luck with Essie formula has been hit or miss, but this one was divine.

Turquoise and brown, as well as pink and brown, are a favorite color combination for me.
And I'm a little backlogged on posting, I've been so busy with work I just can't keep up with anything I've got going on the side. I like my job, but I hate the hours - I don't think I'll last forever, at this rate. Well, that's an aside for you on a nail polish blog, but that does kind of explain my sometimes sporadic posting. Have a good night everyone!
