Layering: China Glaze Glittering Garland and White Cap

Hey guys! Did you have a good holiday? I've got a few more holiday combinations to show off, which should carry me to New Year's Eve, I think. Hope that's okay with everyone!
This layering combination is directly inspired by the lovely Salla, who has the best ideas! I just love her wonderful style.
So, I lied a little. I said I had finished up posting my picks from this year's China Glaze holiday collection - and I had forgotten the star of the show, Glittering Garland. I think this is the runaway hit of the collection, and you can see why. This is a sister of the very famous Emerald Sparkle, a forest green jelly with golden glass fleck. Gah. COULD this be a more perfect holiday polish? I don't think so! I love it of course. I used two coats of this, because I was going to top it with China Glaze White Cap, which is, though sheer, lovely on its own - a milky white shot through with gold. Seriously, if you don't have this, this is a gorgeous, gorgeous shade I'd highly recommend picking up, because it can spice up so many colors. Check it out! First shots are Glittering Garland on its own.

White Cap just really amps up the beauty of Glittering Garland, right? You can better see Glittering Garland if you click on the photos to enlarge them, though. It's a stunner on its own!

China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

MERRY MERRY!
I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday.
This year I decided to keep it simple and wear one of my two favorite holiday polishes, China Glaze Emerald Sparkle. The other favorite is, of course, Ruby Pumps. Emerald Sparkle is divine - if you have the opportunity, definitely hunt it down and nab it! It's a darkened emerald green jelly jam packed with the signature glass fleck - it's divine. I used three coats here for opacity.
I'm playing with my new camera, so we'll see how these photos came out.

And a couple of direct sunlight shots.

Guh. You can click to enlarge these! I don't even know how those pieces of glitter ended up there. Hard to tell today, lol! Have a wonderful evening everyone.

China Glaze Blue Year's Eve

This is another of my picks from the China Glaze holiday collection this year, Let It Snow. Blue Year's Eve is the darker sister of Blue Iguana from this summer's collection - they're not dupes, but if you're not a collector, you probably don't need both.
That said, this is a hothothot color! It's a bright, electric blue glass fleck. I love China Glaze glass fleck polishes, I swear I do. I used three coats here for this level of opacity - at two, I still had VNL. I don't think that I need to rave about this more - I'll just let the photos do the work here, because these are pretty darned color accurate.

I think in that last photo you can see a bit of the purpley duochrome flash this has. It's subtle, but it's definitely there. Boy, does this sparkle in bright sunlight!

China Glaze Zombie Zest

Confession: I wore this polish for six days straight while I was sick. The swatch I'm showing you tonight is right before I removed it! So, you can see it wore like iron - no chips or anything out of place, at all.
Zombie Zest is from last year's Halloween collection. It's an olive green jelly jam packed with the signature China Glaze glass fleck shimmer. It has a slight blue duochrome, that I cannot seem to capture in photos but I see it at weird angles when I'm wearing it. You can see it pretty well in the bottle shot I've included. I used three coats here for this level of opacity.
I have to go ahead and say this. I know everyone loves It's Alive from this year's offering - and I have it to show off as well this week - I too love it, I think it's great - but to me, Zombie Zest just does it. I can't explain why I love it so much more but I will tell you that it's one of my all time favorite polishes.
Anyway, I'll stop waxing poetic about it and just show y'all a ridiculous amount of photos.

Yeah. I LURVE YOU, ZOMBIE ZEST!

China Glaze Señorita Bonita

Oh, Señorita Bonita, you are a hard lady to photograph. This is from the Island Escape summer 2011 collection - a red based purple with gold/red glass fleck. It's a little thin, but nothing three medium coats can't take care of - honestly, with three coats I never saw any VNL until I looked at my photographs.
Okay, let me be honest. For a while, I went on a purple burnout. When I had Magic Maid, I had TWO FULL DRAWERS of purples, the largest part of my collection. Then, when I had my huge blogsale, and I moved and left so many behind, I stopped buying all but a few purples. I was definitely sick of them. This, this has me back in love, swooning over purples again. I don't know if anyone noticed, but I really don't feature them a lot on Nightly Nails, and that is the reason why. I'm fully over my burnout!
Anyway, on to my craptastic photos.

A bottle shot and a close up of the finish. I literally took about fifty photos, and these were the closest I got - in other words, the ones that didn't look as blue leaning as my other ones. Isn't it a gorgeous polish though? Stephanie warned me that it would be playing hard to get in photos!
Do you guys have this and love it??

Revlon Colada Fizz and Sinful Colors Paradise

Okay, so I'm almost embarrassed to post this mess. But I've already warned you that Colada Fizz is sheer, so here goes (deep breath!):

Yeah. That's FOUR COATS. My nails aren't really that stained, but for some reason the sheer blue makes it look worse than it is. You can kind of see the tint of blue. There is the same sized glass fleck/flakie in this jelly, only this time it's straight silver.
Needless to say, I can't wear this on its own, so I decided to give it a whirl over one of my newest Sinful Colors acquisitions, Paradise. Here's Paradise on its own:

And then with Colada Fizz layered over the top. Well, that's certainly a better alternative. But - still it stinks. It's really overwhelming, the smell. And I don't have a sensitive nose! Paradise is gorgeous, though.

Pink Wednesday: Revlon Grapefruit Fizz

On Wednesdays we wear pink; do you?
Alright, so there's a new display of Revlon scented polishes making the drugstore appearance rounds. These appear to be all jellies with glass fleck! I picked up two, Colada Fizz and Grapefruit Fizz. I will show you what I can of Colada Fizz tomorrow, but in honor of Pink Wednesday, we'll start with Grapefruit Fizz!
First up, these definitely have a scent. Grapefruit Fizz is not a straight grapefruit scent, but more like candied grapefruit, and it's not as strong as Colada is.
These photos are with three coats. Definitely jelly and sheer. Have a look, and then we can discuss the finish!

Okay, this is a baby pink jelly with what appears to be LARGER THAN USUAL glass fleck. These are almost flakie like! Also the color shifts a bit - from silver to gold in this polish. Usually what you'll see is gold, but there's a definite shift, depending on what light you're in. I'm not sure what to call this - in between glass fleck size and normal flakie size? Oh, yeah I do. PRETTY. This is a gorgeous polish. Naturally this appeals to me - because one of my all time favorite polishes is the Ulta LE exclusive OPI Pink Me I'm Good. They're sisters, these two - except for the scent.
Honestly, I wish these weren't scented. But I'm loving this color so much. Have y'all seen them? Picked any up?

Pink Wednesday: China Glaze 108 Degrees

Oh, hello loverrrr. You are SO aptly named. HOTHOTHOT. Hot pink jelly glass fleck with blue flash? China Glaze, THIS IS PINK.
I know, everyone has already seen swatches of this. The collection just got to my Sally's, so I've decided that I need all of them except Cha Cha Cha. Now, that's weird because I'm obsessed with green - but seeing it in person it just doesn't appeal to me. Pass.
I picked up 108 Degrees immediately. Kellie suggested in my recent post on L'Oreal Pink Shells that they might be dupes, so since I wanted this anyway, I'd go ahead and swatch this and do a comparison.
A couple of things I'd heard before I bought this, and I thought I'd comment on my experience: It's thin. This one is a little thin, but it's a jelly so I've come to expect that. I used three thicker coats on this and got the opacity you see here. In these photos, my visible nail line (VNL) is more obvious than it is in real life. I've often found that if you prefer opacity in your jellies, that thicker coats are the way to go. Also, it's dupe-y to other polishes. It may be, but I haven't found one yet. I hadn't seen this comparted to No Way Jose, but to me it looks like it might be close - and if THAT is the case, well GOOD because I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet!

Pretty good macro, you can see the blue flash!  Okay, now the comparison shot:

Okay, so you can see they're not dupes - they're like, sisters in that they're both hot pink with a blue flash. Considering they're at a similar price point, I'd go with the China Glaze - it's just got a better formula. NO BUBBLES OR LUMPS! The finish on Pink Shells is different, and it's lighter altogether than 108 Degrees.
So anyway, an awesome hot pink for Wednesday, and a little comparison as well.

China Glaze Ahoy!

As if you hadn't seen this lovely a million times, oh well. I'm new, so I'm showing it off for myself. Ahoy! is from the Anchors Away spring collection. I've got to confess, I'm a China Glaze fangirl. I love this SO so much, it's an awesome bright shade of pink and it has the gold glass fleck China Glaze is famous for. It's like Strawberry Fields' sister!
You can click to enlarge if you want to see the glass fleck a bit better.

My index is growing - but sooo slowly. My nails usually grow pretty quickly, but for some reason right now it's struggling.
