ManGlaze Fuck Off & Dye

There's a little backstory on why I wanted this polish - I could have gotten it with the "safe" name, but I wanted it as it was originally intended.
Here's the thing. I read somewhere over the summer an article on a beauty blog that said that if you wear glitter and you're 40 - or older - you won't be taken seriously.
Are you kidding me? WHO MADE THIS RULE AND WHY DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW IT?
So, I had been stewing over it. Obviously. And it pissed me off, quite frankly.
I'm gonna keep on wearing glitter. And you know what, my mom is 57 and she's wearing it too. Actually, she quite loves my Fuck Off & Dye with Hot Mess on top, if you please.
So anyway, I already wanted this ManGlaze for the name, but then, as I mentioned, I was stewing over this ridiculous statement and I wanted to wear this. So I jumped on this and ordered it - thank you Marc for the super quick shipping! He had previously sent me Hot Mess for review (last year), so I decided what could be more perfect than to top it with glitter? Nothing!
Photos, ahoy:

Well, I just freaking love this to bits. As you can see, Fuck Off & Dye is a beautiful hot pink with an amazing microshimmer. I used two coats here, and could have gotten away with one. I then patted Hot Mess on top for a bit of a gradient - both of these are fully dry after a few minutes, and matte.
A word about application and longevity - ManGlaze mattes are some of the best mattes you will ever use. They last FOREVER. I mean, not a chip in sight. Hubby actually begrudgingly let me polish one nail and then went out to tear a car apart, and he could not get that stuff off. Hah! And, although it dries quickly, it's not too fussy to fix up when you're applying it. You don't have to work really fast, just use your regular pace.
Well, I'm done ranting and raving. I'll be showing off my official birthday manicure tomorrow!
PS, before I forget, two things: You can purchase ManGlaze here. You can also purchase through their FaceBook page. Also, if the name offends you, but you love the polish, you can buy it under the name of "Blue".
And I just HAD to share the description with you:
ManGlaze brings you our exclusive matte finish now in fucking pink! We decided to release it early because of all the nonsense in the news about nail polish turning little boys into little girls. The name of this color pretty much sums up our opinion on the matter. Use with a base coat or it'll dye your nails pink.
Yeah, you guys remember that? I sure do. Ridiculous. Makes me love the name even more. Anyway, have a great night!

Disclaimer: Product(s) in this post were sent to me by the company in return for an honest review.

Focus On Black: Orly Iron Butterfly

Well. Welcome to October! I figured I'd start this month off right, and do my Focus On right away. What better time to whip out the black nail polish than October, right? Voting will be back open for next month's Focus On after this week is over.
Of course, I'm not going to show you just plain old black nail polish. Not that there's anything wrong with that - I wore a lot of Wet N Wild black polish back in the day, and I still use it as a base for other things. But I prefer to kick it up a notch now that I can, and there are lots of alternatives out there for you.
Almost two years ago(!!!), Orly brought us a trio of metallic matte polishes in a little collection called Metal Chic. Let me tell you, they were all three awesome and I utterly adore them. If you don't have them and you're remotely interested, you should get them! So from this Metal Chic collection, I'm showing you Orly Iron Butterfly.
As I mentioned, this is a metallic matte. It's a black base loaded with silver shimmer, so much so that it almost looks charcoal grey instead of black. This is one of the more easy to apply mattes - it's much more forgiving and levels out on its own. I used two coats here, just to cover anything I might have missed, and I thought I might have some ridges. Nope, it all leveled out on its own! Another bonus is that Orly's matte formula is less chiptastic than other mattes I've used. It's not as iron clad as, say, Man Glaze, but it has much better endurance than any other salon brand I've tried. I once wore Solid Gold for three days without chipping before getting bored with it and taking it off, and Iron Butterfly has the same kind of wear.
Also, these dry quickly - if you've ever worked with matte polishes, you'll already know this.
I know, a lot of talk, but one more thing. I have the worst luck ever when I'm applying black polish, and my hands were just not steady. Cleanup is always harder with black polishes, too. My apologies for this!

Check out the frosted bottle! Love it. So, do you have Iron Butterfly or either of the other Metal Chics? What do you think? What's your favorite black polish??

Finger Paints Vintage Velvet

Slowly but surely making my way through these fall picks! But then again, I still haven't spotted any of the drugstore collections. I'll be in trouble when I do! So many I want.
Vintage Velvet, from the Finger Paints fall collection, is a soft, dusty teal/turquoise shade. I have a lot of darker teals, I think this is one of the lighter ones I own, and I like the dusty quality. This is another amazing one coater!
You know, I had a favorite combination of flakies I tried a while back - I put SH Hidden Treasure over OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui. I absolutely adored it.  Soooo, I got to thinking I should try out the combo with Vintage Velvet. This time I used Nubar 2010. I've been alternating my use of these two bottles, since they're so similar.
I think I like this at least as much as I liked it over Suzi Says Feng Shui! Flakies look fantastic over Vintage Velvet. And naturally, I mattified it - China Glaze Matte Magic.
Get ready to drool.

Isn't that cool? I love it so much. Seriously, what a great color on its own - but topped with flakies it's divine. I'm so happy with these Finger Paints, I need to go back and make sure I don't need any more of the fall collection - the application has been divine and I love the colors!

Revlon Orange Fizz

Brace yourselves. I took a crapton of photos for Orange Fizz, and I was only able to narrow it down a little bit. Spam ahead!
Revlon's Orange Fizz is from the new summer scented display of jellies. Obviously, this is orange, with gold toned small flakies. I thought that these polishes had flakies rather than glass fleck, and I was able to see this really well with Orange Fizz. This. Is. STUNNING. I mean, it's dead on gorgeous. If you love orange, or if you're interested in trying orange, you NEED to run out and find this. The smell on this is like Orange Tang. Not really offensive to my nose, like a couple of the others.
The biggest problem I see many of you having with this is VNL (visible nail line). It's a jelly, for sure. I used four thin coats here, it didn't take forever to dry though thankfully. I still have VNL but that really doesn't bother me.
Because I was able to see clearly there were flakies here, I decided to see what it would look matte - and hello! AWESOME. (Whoa, I'm using a lot of capitalization for emphasis on this post.) I slapped a coat of China Glaze Matte Magic on it.
Okay, ready to see?

Wow, did you get a look at that macro? It looks like orange juice with pulp. Haha! Glowing.
Now that glitter week is over, I've got a lot of new Sinful Colors polishes to post for you - I had some requests to show off the rest of the Adventure Island collection, and I bought a few of the new Beverly Hills collection as well. Hopefully everyone's okay with the Sinful Colors spam this week.

Sinful Colors Neon Melon

Okay, so if you've seen Sinful Colors in Walgreen's over the last couple of years, you'll know they often put out a summer display of neons. Well, this year, there is a big display - looks like an endcap! Pretty awesome. I'm going to try to get some photos snapped of the display. It has art stripers, too! Pretty cool. Some are repromotes, but I am not sure if all of them are.
Anyway, I picked up a couple, and tonight I have for you Neon Melon. This is an eye searing highlighter yellow color - AWESOME. I can't wait to slap this onto my toes! This dries flat, chalky matte - well, it IS a neon! I used a white polish for a base, to make it really pop, and I used two coats of Neon Melon. I am showing you this with top coat, because I can't abide it flat.

Two shots in shade, one in direct sunlight. You all probably know by now how infamously hard it is to capture a neon properly, but this will give you some idea! I've got a few more of these to show you. Has anyone else seen the big Walgreen's display??

Orly Royal Navy (3 Ways!)

I've been on a blue kick lately. I just LOVE a good blue polish, and Orly Royal Navy fits that bill. It came out last summer (right?) and I had to have it. Royal blue jelly shot through with metallic green shimmer? Yes please! I pull this out pretty often. If you've never seen a swatch of this before (although I find it hard to believe, at this late date) you can click on my picture to enlarge it, the shimmer shows up quite nicely. I'm pleased that the color showed up accurately in my photos - lately blues haven't been faring as nicely but purples have done well, which is usually not the case.
Well, after I did this mani, I decided to slap some amazing flakies on it - bring in the second half! I used Nubar 2010 - I actually have both that AND Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. They're close enough to be dupes for me, but I'm sure glad to have an extra bottle of flaky goodness. It looks amazing over Royal Navy.
What's better than flakies and royal blue jelly? MATTE flakies and royal blue jelly. I topped it all off with China Glaze Matte Magic.
Obviously, all photos in order of my descriptions.

Holy. That last photo just makes me want to do it all over again! Yup, I love this.
Weekends are just a nightmare for me lately, so I hadn't been able to post anything for a few days. In case anyone (hi, new followers!) were curious where I'd been for the last few days.
I did, however, see some really neat stuff. I saw a girl walking into a bar wearing an all black and white outfit, with white tights - and day glow yellow stripper heels. I LOVED it. Then I saw a guy in a Rite Aid parking lot carrying around a big, old school boom box. He was blasting P!nk's "Pretty". Yep. I was transported back in time!
Anyway, it's my day off, so I'm going to try to schedule some posts for the rest of the week. Hope everyone has a great night!
